HOPE

Just a story of hope

Am tired of answering unnecessary questions from people who look at me with disgust in their eyes and a pity face like they really care. I could remember mother telling dad to hold on a little about me entering a boarding school but dad would always insist and stick to his words, I would rather call him a disciplinarian yet a loving and harsh father. 'She is going have made plans for her already and not even you could stop me now' ' haba! take it easy on me now, Abi is she not also my daughter? That was a week before my resumption date when mum pleaded but to no avail. Dad drove me all by himself after mum had showered me with kisses and prayers, I could feel her pains and the tears that was about pouring out of her beautiful eyes, I had told her everything would be alright.
The route we took was not bad like the one leading to my hometown that always made our car shake as if it was been tossed by spiritual beings or rather unknown force! Those were the words of my mother as she strongly hold on to her faith, she also made us pray and bless anything we receive from our uncles and aunty she had tagged as wolves in sheep's clothing 'Ada am telling you be extremely careful, you would not known your enemy oooo! It not written on their faces' 'please leave my daughter out of your superstitious beliefs. They would always drag about it as dad was not the strong believer he only felt going to church on Sundays only was okay for him. The least I could do during their quarrels was to stand and watch or better still chat with my friends as dad bought me a phone due to my improved performance in school, he had always treated me like an egg! I wonder what if he would ha e done if he had another child, I was the only child after the stress my mum took to get another proved abortive, that was when her faith increased, she could fast and pray hoping someday she would have an Issac. My phone was bae, others had 'bae' as a partner but mine was my phone, at least Ene kept me busy, she was and had always been for me unlike the rest that kept a distant after the fire incident that gave me this scar on my body, I could remember sleeping peacefully sleeping not until screams woke me up....
I had screams for fire in my dormitory as at 3am. Then I realized mum was right about spiritual forces, as they had use Nancy to set up a fire in our room, promising a highest rank in her kingdom. Twas unbelievable as we all tried to struggled,, out. Only for us to realize that we were trapped. She had lock the door! Girls kept pushing their way through in the process getting burnt themselves, as their tender skin attach to the bunk that was already aflame! I thought I was dead until help came due to our screams, we were lucky but not all of us made it, two of my mate died on the way to the hospital, I only gtt burned, some got asthma and others lost body parts!
Three moths gone In hospital with my mum, and am now an undergraduate knowing fully well that there is a creator up there looking after me.
Based on true story
Dedicated to Torino!
