Wow its Saturday already, who’s ready for some hair tips… yippee, if you’re just joining me for the first time today ill advise you read our previous post for better understanding. Personally I love thick black hair, but I don’t have I had always thought that my hair was not growing, or had a stunted growth lol, little did I know that, there are different hair types, knowing our hair types makes it super easier for us to take care of our hair, I’ll be referencing a post I came across on hair types you could check it out here.
Let’s go over to the business of today, I’ll be making references to my
hair coach Bukola Ladejobi, CEO of ten-q beauty, my hair mama(lol). Let me give a brief introduction
of her (p.s this is not a paid advert). She’s a full time
naturalista, I had meet her through a group chat long before she started making
her own personal products so I can rightly say her product is one of the best
organic natural products out there, she has a group chat where she drops hair
tips freely for hair, lovely right? You could check up her page on I.G here

Wash day yessssss!, the picture above is me on my wash day looking all

you guess what my hair type is? My wash days most times take
up to 30mins or an hour depending on my hair routine for that day, I do this mostly close to bathing time or whenever I’ve

day!

2. shampoo
3. deep conditioning
4. rinse
5. detangle
6. style (for more information on protective style click here

For naturalistas in the house please and please always make sure you
check the content of your hair products before applying, quickly let’s look at
the things your natural hair doesn’t
*15 Ingredients to avoid in your hair care products*
You probably know that relaxers contain toxic and dangerous chemicals, (that’s
why you should always choose natural and organic hair care products. Whatever
you put in your hair gets into your body.) but you may not realize that many
products for natural hair contain toxic chemicals as well.
We have put together a list of toxic and harmful ingredients commonly
used in hair and beauty products.
❌Benzene
❌Diethanolamine
(DEA) ❌Triethanolamine
(TEA
❌Formaldehyde:
irritant
❌4.Fragrance: Fragrance
is often a term used to hide Phthalates. Note: at Ten-Q beauty we only scent
our hair products with natural essential oils and fragrance.
❌Isopropyl
alcohol. Drying to the hair
❌Methylisothiazolinone
❌Mineral
Oil and Petroleum: These ingredients can cause acne, hindered skin respiration, imbalanced
oil levels in your scalp, and skin irritation.
❌Parabens
❌Phthalates
❌Retinyl
Palmitate
❌Retinol
❌Sulphates: Sulphates
strip oil and dirt out of your hair so well, they deplete the naturally
produced sebum that moisturizes your hair. Common sulphates:
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate,
Sodium Laureth Sulphate,
Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate.
❌Synthetic
colours
❌Toluene
❌Triclosan.
Some of these ingredients have been found in cancer cells.

Back to our hair wash routine
🧴
*Pre-poo*
Pre-poo is a treatment you apply to your hair prior to adding shampoo or
conditioner. It is the pre-shampoo stage hence the name: prepoo. It is used as
an extra step in natural hair care regimens to provide a shield so to speak
against the harsh stripping of the hair during the shampoo phase. I recommend
using coconut oil or palm kernel oil for pre-poo as they easily penetrate the
hair. Apply generous amount of the oil to your hair in sections. Cover with a
plastic cap and leave for 20minutes. Then proceed to👇
*🧴SHAMPOO*
wash once massaging your scalp for about 5minutes, to remove dirt and dandruff,
then you rinse, do not repeat washing except your hair is very very dirty. If
you are applying anything that needs to be washed out, do that before you
shampoo e.g. onion juice.
🧴
*CONDITIONING OR DEEP CONDITIONING* should come after you have washed your
hair. Apply it on your hair not scalp.
🧴
*RINSES*
this should come last, whether you are doing rice water rinse or aloe
Vera rinse or ACV rinse
If you are applying onion juice to help prevent or treat dandruff, you
can apply it before you shampoo or before conditioning to help buffer the
smell.
Many people stop their wash day here and then they dry their hair and
carry their hair about like this to fully dry before applying cream. If this is
you raise your ✋😁😁 then
they come back to say, my hair is always dry and hard to comb
You see while your hair is still damp from washing, you should
apply your leave in conditioner, oil your scalp then seals in moisture using
your hair butter or oil. Doing this makes my hair less frizzy. And then
detangle.
🖐DETANGLING
This should be done before you shampoo i.e. during prepoo or during
deep conditioning process. Also detangle after applying leave in and
sealing. You can detangle using your fingers (my best detangler) or a wide
tooth comb.
Then put your hair in twists or braids to stretch it.
Note: I find that doing everything (washing, conditioning moisturising, sealing)
with my hair in sections makes it very easy to manage and detangle and this
leads to a minute hair loss.
If you do this trust me your hair will feel soft when you loosen your
braid or twist. It will not feel rough like some freshly washed hair feels.
