CERVICAL CANCER
According to WHO cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women!
Cervix cancer is the lower part of the uterus or the neck of the uterus in the human female reproductive system.
Cancer is a serious disease that is caused when cells in the body grow in an uncontrollable abnormal rate killing most cells that result to death.
HPV is a virus with subtype that causes disease in humans ranging from common warts to cervical cancer (Human papillomavious infection)
Alright ladies I took my time to expanciate the definitions of each major term of my topic so as to let us fully understand that cervix cancer is peculiar to the women folk, we could say cervical cancer is the abnormal growth of cells caused by HPV.
Facts associated with cervical cancer
Cervical cancer usually take over 10-20 years for women with a string immune system but takes 5-10years for those with weak immune system, it also has no early symptoms either, meaning you could live with it for years
Risk factors associated with cervical cancer
- Birth control pills
- Sex at a very young age coupled with too many sex partners
-Giving birth very early (a teenager who gives birth early is more likely to have cervical cancer)
Are there no symptoms/ signs?
There are indications/signs/symptoms which comes very late as it takes years to surface.
Signs like- Pelvic pains
- Vaginal bleeding/ discomfort
- Bleeding after sex
- Bleeding occur also in post -menopause(late 40s and early 60s , with the average postmenopausal age being 51 years old)
-Fatigue.
-Weight loss.
- Loss of appetite
-Back/leg pain
Transmission
It's transmitted through sexual contact, mostly skin to skin genital contact during sex, it's likely not going to occur through penetrating.Prevention
-regular cervical screening
-HPV vaccination
- use of condoms
Treatment
- surgery
-chemotherapy
- radiotherapy
Prognosis
Five year survival rate (68%).Many death has been associated with cervical cancer as at 2015, 238,600 deaths ( source from Wikipedia) women died having it due to lack of education/awareness about it.
NOTES
- Some of those late symptoms above maybe associated with virginal infection, pay a visit to your doctor or preferably a gynaecologist to be sure.-Also condoms are not 100% safe
-reduce intake of over the counter birth pills instead get from your doctor.
