Every 28 of July is called the world hepatitis day, and am sure most of us know little or nothing about it. So I decided to give us a peek into what hepatitis is generally all aboutπππ
Hepatitis is said to be the inflammation of the liver, caused by a virus. Our liver is one of the major organs in our body that involves in the procession of our food I.e digestion and absorption, the liver majorly filters blood and detoxifies harmful/toxic substance in the body.
Hepatitis has five major types: A B C D E
Hepatitis A: an acute type of hepatitis that stays within the range of six months, mostly transmitted through the consumption of contaminated water or any ingested contaminated fluid. HAV is a mild stage of hepatitis as it easily goes with time if detected early enough.
Hepatitis B: it can both be acute and chronic, transmitted through contaminated blood, body fluids (semen, saliva) mother to child transmission and also contaminated needles. Can be prevented by taking vaccinations.
Hepatitis C: almost like HVB it is gotten from mostly infected blood during transfusion and it has no vaccine.
Hepatitis D: only occurs in those with HBV.
Hepatitis E: gotten from contaminated water/food.
TRIGGERS OF HEPATITIS/TRANSMISSION
Aside body fluids transmission there are other things that can cause HV to exist in our body
-Alcohol intake damages our liver .
-Excessive usage of drugs that is toxic.
-Transmission from mother to child.
-Through sex having contact of an infected semen/ vigina fluid.
-improper hygiene sharing materials that carries fluid of the infected person.
GENERAL SIGNS TO LOOK OUT FORπππ
Generally the signs don't show early enough that why it is advisable you get the vaccines as soon as possible to avoid living with the virus until it has done harm on your liver.
-Abdominal pain
- unexplainable weight loss
-loss of appetite for food
-Signs of jaundice like yellow skin, yellowish eyes.
-Fatigue comes in, getting tired easily

TREATMENT
HBV don't have a cure yet they can only be treated to reduce the viral load of the virus to an undetectable state in the body system. Vaccination is advised but if diagnosed to have it already drugs can be administered to keep your liver safe
